​​Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind Sponsorship Opportunity​


Open to full-time students enrolled in any year of study of the Wind Turbine Technician program at any campus where the program is offered.


Application assessment will consider

  • Career aspirations
  • Good academic standing
  • Preference: students who self-identify as Mi’kmaq / Indigenous persons and/or Historically Indigenous Black / African Nova Scotian
  • Preference: students who are residents of Eastern Nova Scotia, preferably Guysborough County residents


Payment details

  • 50% ($3,194.5) of the funding will be issued upon selection
  • The remaining 50% ($3,194.5) will be issued upon successful completion of a 5 week work term


About the sponsor
​​Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind (PHPW) is a forward-looking natural resources company developing a 168MW wind farm in Eastern NS. This windfarm is a critical piece of the ongoing health and competitiveness of PHPW’s sister company, the PHP Paper Mill. PHP is on average 11% of the Provincial electrical load – can be 25% on some occasions. PHPW’s wind farm will supply >60% of PHP mill energy needs at stabilized cost and at the same time help green the Nova Scotia provincial electricity grid.​
