Open to full and part-time students enrolled in any year of study of eligible programs at any campus where the eligible programs are offered.

About the award
​​heather lawson was a revered stone carver, artist, mentor, leader in headstone restoration, friend and sister based in Bass River, Nova Scotia. heather became an apprentice with Canstone in 1986 when the Government of Nova Scotia contracted the South Western Stone Cleaning and Restoration Company Ltd. to come to Nova Scotia to train local stonemasons working on the Provincial Legislature Building. She became the first woman trained to be a restoration stonemason in Canada and went on to establish her own business, carving garden pieces and sculptures, fulfilling commissions and becoming a leading presence in headstone restoration.  Her work was sold at her studio in Bass River, in galleries across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and from there found homes across the world. This award was established by the family of heather lawson to honour her legacy and to provide support to women pursuing careers in male-dominated skilled trades.​
