About the award
Cathy MacLean served NSCC as an employee for more than 30 years. She retired from her position as Vice President, Campuses and Communities in June of 2019. During her term at NSCC, Cathy and her family established an endowment fund in memory of her late brother, Tommy MacLean.

Tommy MacLean was a graduate of NSCC’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning program. He also earned his Power Engineering diploma from NSCC in 1999. He held a red seal, third class power engineering designation and was very proud of his trade. During his career he mentored a number of people starting their careers in the trades and was committed to lifelong learning. The Tommy MacLean Award, funded from this endowment, aims to support new students who choose to study Power Engineering at NSCC and who need a hand up to start their program.
