Urgent Aid - Annapolis Valley Campus
Urgent Aid (UA) is available to help current NSCC students who are facing unanticipated financial challenges that may affect their ability to complete their program.
Eligibility
Urgent Aid is intended to support students facing unanticipated financial challenges. To be considered for funding, students must:
- Be enrolled and actively taking courses – full-time or part-time – in a program leading to an NSCC credential. Eligible programs also include the Adult Learning Program (ALP), Achieve, and Women Unlimited.
- Be experiencing an unanticipated financial challenge—an expense that was unexpected or unplanned and cannot be covered with the resources the student currently has available.
- Be willing to explore all other available funding options, such as government student loans, awards, and bursaries.
- Demonstrate commitment to studies through regular attendance and completion of course requirements.
Exclusions
Urgent Aid is not typically available for the following types of requests:
- Tuition or NSCC-related fees. These costs are expected and published on the NSCC Tuition and Fees webpage, so they are not considered unanticipated expenses and fall outside the purpose of Urgent Aid.
- Expenses related to someone else’s financial needs, including family members or friends.
- Cashflow challenges that can be addressed through other supports, such as tuition fee deferrals, payment plans, book credits, or similar options.
