Children of Promise Bursary


Awarded to a full or part-time student who will be enrolled in any year of study in any program. This award is renewable for students in multi-year programs (based on successful completion of first year in program and remaining in good academic standing).


Students must demonstrate

  • Financial need
  • Commitment and interest in program
  • Good academic standing
  • Applicants must have been under the care of the Cape Breton Victoria and Inverness-Richmond Children’s Societies, however, applicants who were under the care of the Nova Scotia Department of Community Service and any successor organizations are also welcome to apply
  • Preference given to students living in Cape Breton

Current students and confirmed applicants may apply to this award through the student awards portal. Prospective students may begin the application process by expressing your intent to apply by emailing the Student Awards Office at awards@nscc.ca. Please use “Children of Promise Bursary” as the email title.


About the donor
Funding to support this bursary has been provided by the Children of Promise Foundation, through the NSCC Foundation.

The Children of Promise Foundation directed support to programs designed to improve the needs of children at risk through: prevention, enrichment, education and research.

The Children of Promise Fund has been established to support students entering or continuing their studies at NSCC who were children under the care of the former Children’s Aid Society of Cape Breton-Victoria or the Nova Scotia Department of Community Service and any successor organizations.
