Open to full and part-time students who will be graduating this spring from the Geographic Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems – Remote Sensing or Geospatial Data Analytics programs at the COGS (Centre of Geographic Sciences) site of the Annapolis Valley campus.


Application assessment will consider

  • Interest in research and commitment to field of study
  • Good academic standing
  • Applicants must be graduating from NSCC this spring and entering the Acadia Joint Masters in Geomatics program this fall


About the award
Jim Doig (1925-2023) was a survey instructor, and then principal, at the Nova Scotia Land Survey institute (now the Centre of Geographic Sciences – COGS – at NSCC), from 1958 through 1986. He was an early advocate for inclusiveness in the field of geomatics, and a strong believer in lifelong learning. This award is given annually to a graduate of the Geographic Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems – Remote Sensing or Geospatial Data Analytics programs who has shown an exceptional interest in research and is entering the joint masters program Masters of Science in Applied Geomatics at Acadia in the fall.
