The Lieutenant Governor's Award for Culinary Excellence


Open to full-time students who will be graduating from Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Skills (one-year program) and Culinary Management (two-year program) at Akerley, Kingstec, Marconi and Pictou campuses.


Application assessment will consider

  • Commitment to the culinary field
  • Community leadership
  • Academic merit (minimum average of 75% with no failed courses)


About the donor
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, in partnership with the NSCC Foundation, are pleased to offer the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Culinary Excellence in recognition of students exemplifying excellence in the culinary field.

This non-monetary, merit-based award is open to full-time students currently enrolled in culinary programs at NSCC. One student will be selected from each of the eligible campuses to be recognized by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia for their achievement and contributions to the culinary field.

From the top students selected at each campus, one student will be named to receive the Lieutenant Governor’s medal. All four students are expected to attend a reception with the Lieutenant Governor in Halifax on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 2 pm.

  1. To be considered eligible to apply for this award you must:

    1) Be graduating from your program in June
    2) Hold a minimum average of 75% in your program with no failed courses

    If selected as a recipient, you must agree to attend a special celebration hosted by the Lieutenant Governor in Halifax on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 2 pm; and provide a photo of yourself and answer questions about being a recipient of this award for media purposes.
