Future is Youth (FIY) Bursary


  • Be between the ages of 17-30 years
  • Have completed a high school diploma or GED
  • Be under court order within the last few years and be involved with Nova Scotia Community Corrections (including mental health/wellness court and domestic violence court)


Funded by the Government of Canada, the Future is Youth (FIY) program is open to full and part-time students in any year of study of any program at any campus. Please note: applications will be considered upon submission and recipients will be selected on an ongoing basis until funds have been depleted.


Eligibility
Applicants must:

  • Self-identify as Indigenous and/or Black
  • Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Please be advised that should it be determined that an applicant/student has misrepresented information on their application, the student will have their awards application revoked

If eligible, recipients can receive free tuition and funding to cover college fees, with an additional $1,400/month for living expenses while studying.


Application process
Incoming and current students must complete the application, which includes a declaration of eligibility and then participate in an interview led by NSCC’s Youth Program Support Navigator.
