Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Returning Student Award


Open to full-time students who will be enrolled in year 2 of eligible programs at any campus where the eligible programs are offered. To be considered eligible for this award, you must have achieved an academic average of at least 75% in the first year of your program


Eligible programs include:

  • Building Systems Technician (HVAC&R)
  • CAD Technician – Mechanical
  • Carpentry – Diploma
  • Civil Engineering Technology
  • Construction Management Technology
  • Drafting – Architectural
  • Electronic Systems Technician
  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Repair
  • Industrial Instrumentation
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Truck and Transport Repair
  • Welding


Application assessment will consider

  • Financial need
  • Academic merit
  • Character and leadership qualities suitable for a career in the construction industry
  • Good academic standing
  • Achievement of an academic average of at least 75% in the first year of program


About the award
The Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Returning Student Award has been established in support of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia’s (CANS) 150th Anniversary Industry Campaign. This campaign was launched in recognition of the value of education and the role of the construction sector in the growth of Nova Scotia’s economy.

The Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Endowment Fund will provide opportunities for Nova Scotians interested in the construction sector to access educational opportunities at the Nova Scotia Community College and help mitigate financial barriers or circumstances which might compromise the completion of their studies.
