Access to Wellness with the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth

Open to full and part time students enrolled in any program at the Akerley, Ivany and IT campuses as well as those students studying through eCampus who reside in HRM. This program supports students with financial need to prioritize their health and wellness while studying at NSCC. Eligible students will receive a 3 month membership to the John W. Lindsay YMCA, located at 5640 Sackville St. in Halifax.


Application assessment will consider

  • Financial need
  • How a membership to the YMCA would contribute to the student’s overall health and wellbeing

With support from Medavie, through the Medavie Foundation, the YMCA is improving access to wellness in Nova Scotia by removing financial barriers to YMCA membership. NSCC is partnering with the YMCA to provide health and wellness opportunities to those who might not otherwise be able to cover the costs of a membership. Through membership with the YMCA, students will have access to a health, fitness and recreation facility which includes a strength training floor, a cardio floor, an aquatics centre, group fitness, a sense of community and much more.
