Open to full-time students who will be enrolled in year 1 of eligible programs at any campus where the eligible programs are offered.


Eligible programs include:

  • Brick and Stone Masonry
  • Building Systems Technician (HVAC&R)
  • Cabinetmaking and Woodworking Techniques
  • CAD Technician – Mechanical
  • Carpentry – Certificate
  • Carpentry – Diploma
  • Drafting – Architectural
  • Electrical – Industrial Maintenance and Controls
  • Electrical Construction & Industrial
  • Electrical Technician
  • Heavy Duty Equipment / Truck & Transport Repair
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Repair
  • Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Industrial Mechanical
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Oil Heat Systems Technician
  • Pipe Trades
  • Power and Utility Line Work
  • Plumbing
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning – Geothermal
  • Survey Technician
  • Welding


Application assessment will consider

  • Financial need
  • Reflection on experience in the Building Futures for Youth program
  • Reference
  • Good academic standing
  • Completion of Building Futures for Youth Program (by the time of application) 
  • Must not be a previous recipient of this award


About the award
The Construction Association of Nova Scotia Building Futures for Youth Award has been established in support of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia’s 150th Anniversary Industry Campaign. This campaign was launched in recognition of the value of education and the role of the construction sector in the growth of Nova Scotia’s economy.
