About the award
David Dewey was a family person, he lived his life in the spirit of family helping family. His definition of family was broad and included friends, neighbours and co-workers. It was part of everything he did and that is why, this award ensures he is continuing to help ‘family’ succeed during their NSCC journey.
David Dewey loved NSCC. As the dedicated Director of Finance and Controller for 20 years, David was the backbone of the department and contributed to many achievements during his tenure. He was also a very proud graduate of the Pictou Campus (formerly Pictou Vocational School) in Electronics, a program that made him our “go-to” guy for repairs on everything. Not only did he show excellence and dedication in his work and to our community, he was simply a remarkable person – helping anyone with anything from budgets to lawn mowers.
This award has been established to honour David’s memory and legacy. This award is open to students at the Pictou Campus that are returning to school as mature adults with children/dependents to support. These students are providing inspiration to their families by gaining a post-secondary education that leads to a fulfilling career.
