Maestro Fresh Wes Scholarship
Open to full and part-time students enrolled in any year of study in any program under the School of Trades and Transportation at Akerley campus.
Application assessment will consider
- Career interest
- Good academic standing
- Self-identification: African Nova Scotian or of African Descent (Black, African Canadian or African American)
About the award
Wes Williams “Maestro Fresh Wes” is a Canadian rapper, producer, actor, author and motivational speaker. An NSCC Honorary Diploma recipient, Wes has always felt a connection and passion for the work of the College and the impact it has on the lives of students, their families and communities.
In 2024, Wes will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and to mark this incredible achievement, and as a means to pay it forward, Wes created the Maestro Fresh Wes Scholarship. The Maestro Fresh Wes Scholarship is open to Black and African Nova Scotian students pursuing a career in skilled trades at NSCC Akerley Campus and aligns with Wes’ vision to provide hope and access to youth looking to expand their versatility and pursue viable career paths.
