About the award
It is with a heavy heart but also a need for family and friends to honour Josh with a memorial bursary. Josh was a few months away from taking this big step in pursuing his dream career in the NSCC Carpentry program in 2023. He was so looking forward to doing this type of work. Josh was fortunate to have had a few mentors along the way. He was able to job shadow on a number of varied construction sites with a family member who is a Red Seal Carpenter, giving him a good knowledge base and practical experience. He knew what this work would entail and was eager and ready to take on this challenge. Even though he was only 18, he already had a good work ethic, he was not afraid of hard work, and he had a great sense of humor. Everyone who went to school and worked with him loved his smile, his enthusiasm and good nature. Being able to provide financial support to someone with their education in carpentry is one way we are honoring his legacy. He would totally approve. This award is made possible thanks to Josh’s friends, family and community members who generously supported fundraising efforts like a bottle drive and the sale of the “Joshua Tree of Hope” T-shirts.
