Equity in Geomatics Bursary


Open to full-time students enrolled in any year of study in eligible programs at the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) site of the Annapolis Valley Campus.


Eligible programs include:

  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Geographic Information Systems – Cartography and Geovisualization
  • Geographic Information Systems – Geospatial Data Analytics
  • Geographic Information Systems – Remote Sensing
  • Geographic Information Systems Technician
  • Geomatics Engineering Technology
  • Marine Geomatics
  • Survey Technician


Application assessment will consider

  • Interest in and passion for a career in geomatics
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Supporting a culture of inclusion and belonging
  • Good academic standing
  • Self-identification: Mi’kmaw/Indigenous Person, Historically Indigenous Black / African Nova Scotian, Black or Another Racially Visible Person and/or 2SLGBTQIA+


About the award
This bursary has been created to assist those who are interested in and have a passion for a career in the geomatics industry. Recognizing the significant financial, social and cultural barriers that those from equity deserving groups face when pursuing post-secondary education, this bursary will help offset educational costs and hopefully encourage a greater participation in geomatics training and careers.
