Infinitus - Limitless Award

Open to full-time students who will be enrolled in any year of study in any program at the Akerley, Institute of Technology (IT) and Ivany campuses.

Application assessment will consider

• Financial need
• Community involvement
• Commitment to giving back to their community and how it has influenced their career journey (via essay or video)
• Good academic standing
• Requirement: Self-identification – Historically Indigenous Black / African Nova Scotian with ties to one or more of the 52 historically African Nova Scotian communities (ex: Africville, Aldershot, Birchtown, Beechville, Hammonds Plains, Lucasville, Cherrybrook, Lake Echo, North Preston, East Preston, Upper Big Tracadie, Lincolnville, Weymouth Falls, Monastery, etc.)
• Preference: Applicants who participated in Infinitus’ Limitless program
• Preference: Applicants enrolled in programs within the academic schools of Health and Human Services, Technology and Environment and Trades and Transportation

About the award

This award was established in partnership between the NSCC Foundation and Infinitus Academy Inc and Limitless. This award recognizes the critical importance of representation and ensuring known barriers to access and opportunity are addressed through supporting students directly. The goal of this award is to streamline representation and development within: a) fields where Indigenous African Nova Scotian youth and individuals who are currently underrepresented; b) industries that are critical to a thriving community, province, nation of today and tomorrow; and c) will help to future proof these individuals, their families and our communities amidst Artificial Intelligence, Environmental and Technological shifts. Applicants will show leadership and a commitment to a better tomorrow, for themselves and their people – their tribe, community, and/or nation – through their involvement in community, volunteering, school, sport or recreation.
